Karen Foster

Karen Foster was a rock trio from Canada. From the beginning, Karen Foster played music with a spirit so wild it left critics and fans feeling somewhat naked. Loud, fast, tight punk rock without quoting the Ramones, NoFX or Nirvana, Karen Foster attempted a pro-active rock experience on a stunted modern musical scape dominated by the pre-fab retroactive.

Just as nostalgia is a sign of a dying culture, Karen Foster was transfixed on communicating the prognosis of what Oliver Stone in his film Natural Born Killers called "the sad sickness". As western society has become more and more rotted by the power elite, social consciousness in North America has largley become faithless and self-loathing and/or blind and nullified. Karen Foster relfected the blinding rift between our ideals and the realities, the gloating political and technological contradicitions of our space and time in 1999. A polite external pretense of caring and fostering, while within beats a maniac volatile heart ready to burst from skin and bone. Karen Foster was that dionysian Shiva trapped in the bowels of Apollo.
